Yay ~ Not a Christmas Card!!

Is anyone else as excited as I am to be done stamping because you "have" to?? That is what I finally did on Saturday morning.

I have told myself that I have to start using the stamps and supplies that I already have that are collecting dust or else I am just going to have to sell them all or give them all away! It is pretty bad in my stamping room...I have so many things that I had to have and needed at the moment that have never been used, it should be against the law, really! I have become quite the collector or stamping supplies!! I just love to shop and I love to stamp so that's what happens when you put the 2 together...

On this card I used the stamp set Boatloads of Love from Stampin' Up and some new paper that I bought months ago at Michaels by Me & My Big Ideas. Aren't you proud of me? I used 2 neglected items at 1 time:)

I made this card to give to my husband. I used to make him cards all the time but kind of got off track with that here lately so he was pretty excited to get a card he could keep and that actually had something written inside of it, lol. Everytime I give him a card to look at he opens it up fully expecting to see something written or stamped on the inside and there never is!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont stamp anything inside until I am ready to give the card to someone cause I never know who it's going to, KWIM?? Do all men do this?? Or is he wierd?? (he's wierd, I know, but he's so darn cute, hehe).

Tomorrow I am going to post my latest Blog Candy Giveaway!! I already know what it is, I just need to take a picture for you and I will do that tonight, I promise!! Speaking of give blog giveaways, I would love to have a snazzy name to call my blog giveaway. Does anyone have a good idea for me?? There would be incentive for the winner so think of something good, ok????? Pretty Please!!!!

In other news, it's New Years Eve and I forgot to make reservations at one of our favorite restaraunts...oops....so I called and of course the only reservation they had was at 4:15 so it looks like i'll be cooking on New Years Eve :horror:

What will y'all be doing for New Years Eve?? I wanna know all about it:)

Cards for My Daughter's Friends

My daughter needed some cards for a few of her good friends at school so she asked me to make 8 for her. She looked through my stamps and chose Elzybell as the stamp that she wanted and then she sat down and sketched out how she wanted them to look, what colors to use, what designer paper to use and everything.

Needless to say, these are the easiest Christmas cards I had to make all year long! I might have to ask her to help me out with ideas for myself in the future!

Stamps used: Elzybells NA

Ink Used: Adirondack Pitch Black, Copic Sketch Markers, SU! Bashful Blue

Cardstock Used: Papertrey Ink White, SU! Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink and Winter Brights Simply Scrappin' Kit

Accessories Used: Stardust Glitter Pen, Stickers from SS Kit Unfortunately for me, this isnt the last Christmas project that I have to work on! I still have to make 15 gifts of some kind for the ladies in my office...I am working on making some 2, 5, 7, 10 boxes (if that's what they are called!) or the other boxes with the numbers...2, 5, 7, 8 or something like that, I don't know.

All I do know is that I STINK at measuring and at scoring! I may just be the world's worst measurer and scorer! It's really sad, the amount of perfectly good cardstock I have wasted in the past couple of days trying to fold and score and measure...No, I didnt use scrap paper, I went straight for the SU! cardstock every time and in the trash it went every time! Well, a few are on the computer desk, 1 of which my daughter picked up last night and said "Geesh, you really messed this up, hope you arent giving it to anyone..." She's right.

If I don't blog to you again before Christmas, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas ~~ But I might be back before then, who knows??

And I have been tagged by my Sassy Friend, Kimme, here on her new blog The Life of a Princess!

The rules of the game:
Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog, we all want to know them.
Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

7 things about me:
  • I have a TON of grey hair. Have had it since I was a teenager!
  • I don't like "niceness", hugging and "how do you do's" and stuff just does not come naturally to me, I'm a big faker...but my friends knew this already and love me the same;)
  • I have had plastic surgery...and I am only 34 ;) Curious now arent ya???
  • No one in my family lives in the same state as me, just the in-laws...
  • I have a VERY messy bedroom! Don't even ask to see pictures!!
  • I have won 2 radio contests in the last couple months!
  • I love, love, love to cook but I love eating out more ;) and Mexcian is my favorite but only from one place that we have been going to for about 10 years.

Tag 7 other people: I am not going to do that since all my friends I know that blog have been tagged except one person.....Sherry! She hasnt blogged in MONTHS!! Think this will get her off her duff long enough to post at least one more time this year??? LOL

Almost Done and a Personal Story, too

Almost done with my Christmas cards! And I am not going to try not to post anymore here after today as to not bore the masses...

This is one that I made last night using this cute snowman that I bought to use for Christmas cards this year but it turns out he is a little too "artsy" for me or something...I am more into the cute snowmen, so I didn't use him much afterall.

This is the kind of snowman that I am more comfortable with. No coloring necessary, just my type!

I made 3 of both of those snowman cards and that should just about finish up my Christmas card making for 2007! Now I have to get started on making gifts for the girls in my office. I love giving people just a little something at Christmastime. I am thinking about making some nugget boxes since I just got my order from Clear Dollar Stamps and have their new set to use to make cute nugget wrappers with!

About the Clear Dollar Stamps: I am SO impressed with the quality of these stamps and their customer service! I used a few of the little stamps last night with SU! Classic Ink and the ink stuck to the acrylic perfectly ~ just as well as it sticks to SU! rubber stamps!

I am not an acrylic aficianodo or anything so this is just my novice experience and opinion but I thought i'd share, and their prices are OUTSTANDING!
When I make my wrapped nuggets this weekend, i'll post some pics of these new stamps!

This little 3 x 3 card is for a challenge that I do with my Sassy Friends on SCS. We have a challenge every Wednesday and this week we were to make a 3 x 3 card. Luckily I was trying to make some fancy schmancy folded card and messed it up beyond repair...so I was able to cut that messed up card and make it into a 3 x 3 card for our challenge!

And finally I wanted to share something non-stamp related with y'all!

I don't really want or need anything for Christmas this year and let me tell you why...

The love of my life is a dog named Tara (it's ok, my husband and daughter know already!). Recently we had a scare with her. She had a tumor growing on her bottom eyelid and we were scared to death about it! The vet told us he could take it off or we could send her to a Veterinarian Opthamologist to have it done, and that the specialist would cost 3 times as much as him doing it but that the spot was s sensitive area since it is her bottom eyelid and the skin is "touchy" there, etc... Even though money is no object when it comes to our "Bear Bear", I asked our vet to honestly tell me if he could do a good job and if he would do this surgery on his own family member and he said "yes" he could do it and would do the best job he could do!

He did the surgery on the 29th of November and it looked great! She had 3 little stitches and the tumor was gone. Now the hard part was beginning because we had to wait to see if it was cancer or not and then see what we would do if it was. They said it would take 2 weeks to find out but it was only about 9 days and the vet called to tell us that the tumor was benign and she would be fine!

I just listened to the message on the answering machine and cried my eyes out and made Tara listen to it too! I left it on the machine and told my husband that he had an important message so when he got home he listened to it and it looked like he was going to cry too...but we'll say he didn't ;).

Last night I had to take her to get the stitches out and her eye looks amazing. Even the vet said he had to toot his won horn over doing such a beautiful job on her surgery!

So, that is about the best Christmas present that I could ever ask for, don't ya think??

Needless to say I am just so happy and relieved and spent most of last night laying on the couch with my head on her side kissing and hugging her!! She is so sweet and loving and laid back, she's just my best friend ever and she knows it too! She's spoiled rotten and the love of my whole famiy's life! Even my grandma and family from all over calls to see how their "sweet Tara" is doing...she's just a joy!

Simple Trees

I saw this beautiful card here: Twisted Chick Creations and wanted to make one so badly especially since I have that Christmas set with that sentiment coming in the mail to me...I tried to wat for it to get here but I just couldn't so I used what I had and made 2 cards.

This first one was my first try and when I showed my husband he said it needed more "3-d ness" to it....and that the trees were a little tight together. He was right but it was my 1st try, KWIM, so as I was putting the trees down, and I saw that they were too close it was too late to change it since they were already stuck. I use Tombow Mono-Multi glue and there is no turing back with that stuff! Once it's down it's down forever!

So, for my 2nd card I planned the layout a little better and spaced the trees out and put some under the front layer of "ground" to give it that "3-d ness" that was suggested. I also used the pretty Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper that I have been holding onto for "later" that I got at Jacksonbelle's and some silver diamond shaped brads that I thought I would never use for anything.
I think this 2nd card came out much better than the 1st, don't you?

I think I only have about 20 more Christmas cards to make. I am going to try to get them all done this weekend so I don't have to think about Christmas cards anymore this year!! Except for the cards I recieve, of course!

Aren't you Proud of Me??

I started on my Christmas cards last night!

I have had Lovely As a Tree for, I would guess, about a year without ever mounting it! I often see such beautiful, simple cards using this set in the gallery at SCS so I thought that it would be a great set to use for my time crunched Christmas cards this year. I've only gotten 6 made so far but that's pretty good for just about 2 hours of sitting at the old stamping table, dontcha think?

Both cards use patterned paper by My Minds Eye from the Frost line of paper. The top card uses Soft Sky and the other card uses Bashful Blue, the brown is Chocolate Chip. I just love blues and brown and pinks and brown, dont you??

6 down...a whole heck of a lot more to go!

In other news:

Tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 7pm, is the kick off for the last VSN Mini for this round. Won't you come join the fun, stamp a little, and maybe learn some new things and make some new friends??
Remember, you have 2 weeks to upload your creations, and no time limit to create!
If you have any questions about VSN, leave me a comment here or ask in the VSN Forum on SCS:

Avoidance

Yes, I practiced a lot of avoidance this weekend...avoided cleaning (daughter did that), avoided laundry (thank God I had new clothes to wear today;)) and most detrimental I avoided making a single Christmas card this weekend and I need to make between 60 and 70 of them!!
I do not know what is wrong with me. Last year I was making my Christmas cards all the month of Novemeber and I was mailing them by this time! I just havent felt like doing any stamping...I have new Christmas stamps and paper and ribbon to use, just no gumption...

Oh well, hopefully it will hit me soon or else!

I did stamp this weekend though I have no pictures to prove it. I went to a BIG Shoebox Swap at my friend Norma's house. My project was an oragami box but I don't have a picture of it since I left my sample there for our hostess to keep. There were about 18 of us there and we stamped from 9:00 am until whenever we were finished. I was done around 3:00 and then went home to start on my Christmas decorating at home!

I put the tree up on Friday night and then took Saturday afternoon/evening putting the decorations on it. My family will tell you that I am a little wacky about the Christmas tree...I don't know what they are talking about I just like every ornament to be in the exact perfect spot, no big deal! So after hours and hours of putting an ornament on and moving it to a "better" spot it was finally finished...OH! we added colored lights to the tree too! It was just a crazy suggestion by my husband and I actually went with his suggestion and put some on the tree and I am pretty happy with that decision.
Back to my wacky obsession with the Christmas tree ornaments...my evil family will sometimes move several ornaments around just to see how long it takes me to notice, cause I will notice and they will be in big trouble!! Especially if I can't remember exactly where it was the 1st time!
And now we have a kitten and she was already trying to pull of the sparkly spiraly thingys that I put on the tree, she was making me so upset this morning that she made me cry and I am not a crier!
Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the tree, one with the lights on and one off. It would have been prettier if i'd taken the pics at night but it was too late last night when I got it all finished so I took them this morning.

Below is a picture of the outside of the house.
There is a deer on the far right of the yard that isnt in the picture. He doesnt like his picture taken because unfortunately we live around people that hunt and he gets a little nervous every year when he has to come out of the attic....don't worry we have a "NO HUNTING" sign near him so he should be ok:)

The little lights on the ground behind the snowman and penguin are these super cute big light bulbs that are colored and are lining the flower bed (here is an example of them, in case you want to see them close up cause they are really cute. I got mine at Michael's and they have 5 on them versus 4 as in this example: BIG BULB LIGHTS ). My husband was leary of them but they are really, really cute! Oh and the icicle lights twinkle...another new thing for us this year. We are usually plain old white light people...but this year we added a little more BLING!
Anyone have any tips for me to get on the ball with these Christmas cards??? Or maybe it is just too late for me to even start, whaddya think??

A Paper Tree

Well, I didn't get any of my Christmas cards made this weekend but I did make the Paper Tree that I need for a swap tonight!

Tonight is the monthly "Inky Angels" SU! Demo Group meeting that I am a member of and instead of our normal card swap we are doing a Gift Swap. All of us had to make 1 item that would be worth at least $10.00 at a craft fair so I decided to try one of there Paper Trees from the tutorial at SCS.

For my tree I used Stampin' Up!'s Wintergreen Designer Paper and my ribbon from the recent ribbon share that I was in on Jody Morrow's blog confessionsofaribbonaddict.blogspot.com I was so glad that this ribbon came just in time and the colors I got match perfectly with the SU! Designer Paper!!

I hope that whoever gets this tonight likes it:)

I Love Black Friday!!!!!!

I think this may have been one of my most successful Black Friday's ever:)

I shopped for 16 hours in the past 2 days and I just loved it. I got up at 3:30 am on Friday and got home at 1:30 pm, then went back out at about 2:30 for a few more hours. I hit Walmart first, then waited in line at Target at 5:30 am, then went to Starbucks to refuel, went to Kohl's, then Chic-fil-a to refuel again and then to the Mall to New York and Company, Victorias Secret (had to get the free Super Model bag!!), Macy's, Sears, JcPenney and every other little store in the Mall! On the way home I made a detour to Michael's just to make sure I wasnt missing anything. Then I went home for the day, I thought, but I got the wrong Barbie Princess Throne for my neice so I had to go back to Target so my sister in law and I went back and what do you know, we found more great deals that we needed!
I was very successful and got everything that was on my list and MORE!

I hope everyone else was as successful as I was on Friday!

Today I totally didnt mean to go shopping at all but I accidentally did......
I had a meeting to go to and one of my friends there asked if I wanted to run (real quick) to AC Moore since there were coupons...so I did, of course, but I didnt find anything I needed there. I wanted a Xyron but they didnt have the one I wanted so I took the coupon to Michaels and got it there. Here's the one I got:
My friend that was with me said this is the one I need since it can laminate, too:) So for 40% off I got one.

Then when I got home today I saw that my ribbon came from Jody's ribbon share. Lookie:
Now I have to make a fabulous something or another for a gift swap at my Inky Angels meeting Monday night, come up with something for a Shoebox Swap next Saturday and make all 75 of our Christmas cards to send out....WISH ME LUCK!

TGIF!

Right???? I love and hate Friday's. Love them of course because they are the last day of the work week. Hate them because they seem to go on forever and ever and ever...waiting for the weekend can make Friday feel like that!

I am glad that I was tagged by Jen over at Chaos Among Us since I had nothing interesting to say here;)
I have to link to the blogger that tagged me, done.
List 7 random things about myself (and right now I cant think of 1)
Tag 7 more bloggers. Don't worry, I don't really "know" 7 other bloggers so i'll just tag a couple.
  • At my job I basically do nothing. I am officially a "Legal Secretary" but I spend 6 hours of the 7.5 hours I "work", cruising the internet and reading magazines and my bosses don't care!
  • I have lived in FL, VA, CA, CT and HI all in my 1st 14 years! I have lived in VA now for 13 years and it is the longes I have ever lived anywhere.
  • I could have gone to college on a full scholarship for basketball.
  • My hair is almost totally grey, though no one will ever see that!!
  • I am a total tv junkie. I love reality shows, most of them, except the Survivor type shows as I dont care for being dirty and in the jungle or traipsing all over the country getting dirty and such...but I love All My Children, Grey's, Americas Next Top Model, Boston Legal, CSI (all of them), Law and Order, The Bachelor, Oprah, Dr. Phil, Maury, ET, Dr. 90210, Sunset Tan, The Girls Next Door, Private Practice, Brothers and Sisters...I could go on and on and yes my TIVO is my prized possesion!
  • I have 2 sisters and we are all 100% different...can you say "milkman"...lol
  • My dog, Tara, is my best friend.

I have to apologize for that being so boring, if you made it through reading it without falling asleep, that is...but I cant share the juicy stuff with y'all just yet, you'd never come back!!

Now I will tag my BFF Sherry since she hasnt blogged in over 2 months!!!

And I will tag my Fabulous Friend Kim just because I can;)

What a weekend!!!

I am home from my exciting stamping adventure all over the East Coast! Well not really but it feels like it;)

I drove to see Kimme (MelenaPrincess) in MD, stayed the night to recharge and then we drove up to PA to meet up with Kim (nutsymuhl) for the Mini-VSN night, which was Friday night and if you missed it, that's ok cause you have plenty of time to play just click here: Mini-VSN

So, Friday night we stamped at the hotel Kimme and I stayed in which was really, really nice, (great recommendation Kim), and went to this fabulous grocery store Wegmans (?) to get dinner. They have this delicious, fancy buffet type thing with Chinese food, subs, pizza, even prime rib, crab cakes and fish n chips! I had the fish n chips, Kim had the crabcake dinner and Kimme had the Chinese food and it was all delicious!

On Saturday morning Kimme and I went to Kim's so we could all go shopping and out to lunch. We were on a mission for Copic markers since Kim let us try them out on Friday night and now we just had to have them (yes, it is all Kim's fault, honey...). We went to Dick Blick and got our Copics!!!! I erally only meant to get about 10 or so, so I have no idea how I ended up with 24 of them...?? It was so exciting, I've never been that excited to spend that much money...

Then we went to the mall and ate lunch and Ruby Tuesdays, shopped a little, went to AC Moore got some more stamping goodies, like the new Queen and Co. felt flowers and some pretty paper, etc...

Then came the sad part where we had to leave Kim and head back to reality : (

I stayed at Kimme's Sat. night and headed home on Sunday morning. I had such a fun time and would definitely do it again in a minute and I cant wait until I see the Kim's again!

The best part of the whole trip is that we all felt like we were old friends! We have been chatting with each other for so long that we just got along like we'd known each other forever! I highly suggest that if you have the chance to get together and stamp with someone you met on SCS you do it! It was so much fun!!

and here we are (Kimme, Me and Kim):

I'm so excited...

...and I just can't hide it (come on, you know you were thinking of the same line)!

I am getting ready to go on a fun and exciting stamping adventure. I am going to meet 2 friends that I met on SCS during a VSN when we were all hostesses together.

Who would ever think that you could form wonderful, lasting friendships on a website?? I sure never thought that was possible. I am so grateful for the day that I found SCS. I have made so many friendships there that I never would have had a chance to make if it werent for SCS. I wouldnt have made friends with the Fab Five (well Four not counting me) if it werent for Virtual Stamp Night on VSN. The "Fab Five" (as we like to call ourselves) is 5 of us (StampOwl, beadfreak22, nutsymuhl, MelenaPrincess and me) that hosted a previous VSN and became fast friends and have been chatting away ever since. We talk about our lives, our troubles our wishes and stamping, too, of course. These 4 women are so kind and caring, hilarious and naughty (at times), mischevious, witty, honest and just wonderful. I feel so fortunate to have them in my life and now I get to go and meet 2 of them in real life and hang out and snack and stamp and shop!! I know, you are just green with envy.

First I will be driving to Maryland to meet up with Kimme (MelenaPrincess) and stay the night at her house, then we are driving a couple hours up to Pennsylvania to meet up with Kim (nutsymuhl) and stay the night in PA.

The main reason we are all getting together is for the 1st VSN Pre-Challenge which is Friday night!! We are going to stamp the night away together!!! What could be better than stamping with crazy stamping women???? And I say "crazy" with a ton of love ;) We are going to take over the business center at the hotel Kimme and I are staying at and spread all of our "work" out and stamp and snack all night long! I already warned the hotel and they are ok with it...THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY AGREED TO!!!!!!!!!!! LOLOLOL

So, with that in mind, I would love to hear all about your fun stamping adventures, so tell me please!! And when I get home I will fill you in on everything!

Now, I have to figure out a way to pack all the stamping supplies I need... :)

Edited to add:
I totally randomly stumbled upon the gorgeous, new, gallery, on SCS, of PickleTree! You have to check it out. Here is a link to her super fabulous blog where you can get more info on her cute creations: http://pickledpaperdesigns.blogspot.com/

See, you never know where you might "meet" a new friend;)

It is a pack of the Halloween Martha Stewart paper, 4 Michaels $1 Halloween stamps, Martha Stewart Halloween Ribbon and some cute 3-D $1 stickers from Michaels.

Pretty good for candy?? I hope so:) I will have this out to you in a jiff too just in time for Halloween card-making and scrapbooking, promise!!

Coffee Confirmed Here Too...

Last month on Jody's blog she posted a link to a survey to take and possibly become eligible for a free Senseo Coffee Pod System.

So I took the survey since this type of coffee maker is perfect for me because I am the only one that drinks coffee in the house (wierdo's I know). Anywho, I got an email that I was eligible to recieve the coffee "system", paid the shipping ($15) and my new toy arrived today.

This is the coffee system I recieved (along with one package of the coffee pods):

Jump Into Fall!!!

VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) is almost here and out theme this time around is "Jump Into Fall"!
The fun starts on SCS Friday night at 6pm ET.

I am again one of the hostesses for this event, and am looking forward to participating. My challenge will be posted at the very end (11:00 pm, Sat.) when you are all loopy and hyped up from all the ink fumes!

For those who don't know VSN consist of a series of fun, stamping challenges which are run over the weekend starting on Friday night from 6pm to 11pm and Saturday from 12 noon to 11pm. Anyone is allowed to play so come on over to SCS if you have time and check out the challenges!!

Each challenge does need to be completed in a 45 mins time frame...you don't have to do a challenge at the time it is posted if that time doesn't suit you, you can still do the challenges even after VSN is over as long as you keep to that 45 minute time frame.

You can do just one challenge or all the challenges that is up to you!

Rockin' Mirror

I did something that I am proud of!
I found this cute scalloped edge mirror at Michael's a week or so ago and just knew that for $1.00, yes I said $1.00, I needed it! It is good sized, about 12 inches tall by 8 inches wide and it was white, made by Provo.

My daughter loves pink and black and loves mirrors...if I were a size 2 I'd love them too but that's another story for another day...back to the brilliant moment I had...

I thought that I would cover it and fancy it up for her. At first I figured I would just stamp in it cause that's what I know how to do, stamp. I can barely even cover a tiny piece of chipboard with cardstock so I figured I could never cover this mirror with all its edges and corners and stuff, right??
But then I figured for $1.00 what would it hurt if I messed it up, and it would be good practice!
I went to Michaels in search of the perfect cardstock for my daughter to cover her mirror and found this AWESOME Mat Stack by DCWV called "Rock Queen", if that wasnt perfect nothing was, so I got it and this is what I did with it tonight:

I actually covered the mirror and did a darn good job doing it, too! I just glued the cardstock on randomly and cut around the edges and then sanded it and sponged black ink on all the edges and then sealed it wit the most fab Modge Podge ever "Sparkle" Mod Podge. You cant tell but it is pretty sparkly and my daughter loves it, she was in awe of me, isnt that a fun feeling???

I added the embellishments to match it, the top one says "Celebrity" and the bottom little one is a skull that matches the cardstock perfectly!

I feel so brave and proud of myself. Sorry if this seems crazy but I was very intimidated by this little project and now I feel like I can just do anything...scrapbooking here I come!!!

Have a good one;)

You like me, you really like me!!!

Well, as long as I am giving away something...
I went to this random number generator here:
http://www.mathgoodies.com/calculators/random_no_custom.html

and plugged in the numbers 1 thru 30 (there were a few multi posts but I only counted 1 to be fair) and the winning number is............
11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Michelle or eliotstamps as she is known on SCS is the lucky winner!

You will be recieving 1 yard of each of my new ribbon colors and my whole share of sueded 5/8 inch ribbon from one of Jody's previous shares (suede ribbon info)! Girl, you are going to be rolling in the ribbon, just be sure to keep it away from Eliot!!!

I just need your address to send it to you!

Thank you everyone for checking out my humble little blog and please come back to see what I am working on!!

Can you say Ribbon??? and Candy????

This is what happens when you are a fan of Jody Morrow's blog, Confessions of a Ribbon Addict...

Crazy, huh??? I don't even know which ribbon shares this ribbon is from of Jody's but it sure did put a HUGE smile on my face when I opened the box ;)

I haven't been stamping much lately but this ribbon may just do the trick because I really want to dive into it!

One BIG problem...I have no idea where to store all of this ribbon. I already have 3 drawers and 2 of the SU! Ribbon Keepers full of ribbon!

So what do you suggest? I will pick one of the suggestions and send that person a nice little bit of blog candy, what do you think?? And I promise it will be good because I have bunch of gifts that I have bought over time for giving to my stamping/scrapping friends that are just dying to have a new home!

So, drop me a line about your ribbon storage and see what happens...

PS - I will pick someone on Monday, August 13th!!

What Jimmi Needs...

Since I don't stamp anymore, I was blurfing (I think that means blog surfing...I hope) and I came across one of my fav blogs Pink Tulle with Feathers and Sequins. Shannan or (steubner on SCS) is super sweet and a very talented stamper:)
A recent post on her blog was about what you get when you go to google and type in "your name + needs". So I went and typed in "Jimmi+Needs" and the following VERY random things came up:
1. Jimmi needs a father figure (I'll have to talk to dad about this one)
2.Jimmi needs some steadiness
3.Jimmi needs cough medicine
4. Jimmi, we need the help of ordinary people like you
5. Jimmi needs to keep a fire extinguisher near by
6. Jimmi is wise cracking, charming and a sharp dresser
7. Jimmi went to a very tragic gay pride in Phoenix....

I think that if I had typed in "Jimmy" instead of "Jimmi" I may have come up with some better sentences but that's not my name:)

Have a great day everyone (like there are tons of people that even know about this blog...;))

Maybe I'll go shopping today...

But before that my daughter and I did the above with her name:
1. Rachel needs to have blush that is very bright and colorful
2. Rachel Needs Some Good Thoughts
3. Rachel needs help when she enters Manhattan's meat-packing district to help three transvestite hookers find out who murdered one of their friends
4. rachel needs 2 get over herself and she needs 2 do it NOW
5. Rachel needs to refer to Web sites, manuals, and a variety of documentation
6. Rachel Needs Your Help
7. I dont think Rachel needs to change herself in the least, she is cute and she knows how to dress.

Ok since Rachel is 15 these are too funny and some are very true! Except #3...don't know where that came from at all!

Have a great day!

and Some Shopping!!

The name of my blog is Stampin' and Shoppin' for a reason, you know ;)
If you know anything at all about Splitcoaststampers then you know there are a bunch of crazy, shoppin' women over there! The latest craze is this site called Frugalities. There deal is that everyday they have a different discount on their site.
I have now made 2 purchases from them in the past 2 weeks, 1st time it was 49% off and the 2nd time it was 45% off! How cool is that? I got primas and Basic Grey paper for almost nothing!!
Some of this stuff is for my sister who lives at an FPO in Italy and can't get anything shpped to her there so it isnt as bad as it looks!
Here are a few pictures of my 2 orders combined:
(ps- if you are my DSS then you are getting some of this stuff so act surprised!!!)
The picture above is of everything all together. There are Primas, Basic Grey, Autumn Leaves stamps, Stickles, some page protectors, chipboard, brads and Making Memories 6x6 pads!

Cute huh??

I have no idea what I am going to do with that many Prima flowers...?!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you all have a great weekend!!

Finally!

Finally, I did nothing but stamp and shop for about 12 hours yesterday!!!
Remember I told you "all" (lol) about the Shoebox Swap that I was participating in, hosted by 2 SCSers sherristampsalot and pnindazz??
Well here are my rewards for all my hard work:

Everyone brought fabulous cards to make, don't ya think???
I had so much fun I could barely stand it:) We stamped and ate brownies and Reeses Pieces and Dominos pizza! I met a bunch of new people and just had the best time!

Here is my project that I brought to the swap, it is a giftcard holder:

I can't say how to make it, just yet, but I can say THANK YOU to Jenn Balcer and direct you to her FAB blog where you can learn more (soon) about this project that she created and so generously shared with me, just one of her many adoring fans...! JENN BALCER
Now onto the rest of the day cause it wasnt all about stampin' ;)...

We left the SBS and decided to hit a big stamping/scrapping store that is in Williamsburg, since we were there, right?? So we went there and got a few things. I got the Essential Glue Pad which I have no idea what I needed it for I just knew that I did. We then hit ULTA because I had to have my lipgloss and we were in the area, so to speak. Then we went to Cracker Barrel which I just love, YUM:) Then we went to a Ben Franklin store on the hunt for Stickles, didnt find any but I did find 2 new bracelets for a watch that I have that has those interchangable bracelets, KWIM? Then I had to have Cold Stone Creamery and Sherry had to pee so we had to stop, right??? Then we finally headed home.

It was a blast and I can't wait until I can get together again with my new and some old stamping friends!!

I watched that new singing show called "The Singing Bee" and "Kathy Griffin, my Life on the D List".
Did I stamp? No! Did I even think about stampin?? No!
I think I seriously have a problem, hope it goes away soon!

Waitin' on Mr. Brown...

Well, what do you think?
I added some music to my blog. If you speakers aren't on, turn them on:)
I have to forewarn you that there is a song with a naughty word in it so if you hear it don't be offended, we're all adults, right?? Cause I know no kids would want to look at my blog!

Most importantly, I am waiting for my 1st order from the new SU! Fall-Winter Collection Catalog to get here. It shold be here today since I was very naughty and used the 2nd Day Air option for my shipment...it's only $20 and I deserve it, right???

Anywho, when it gets here I have to get right to preparing for a Shoebox Swap in Williamsburg, VA, that I am in on Saturday with some SCSers. But first I will take a few pictures of everything for you "all" (haha) to see!

Groovy Goodness

OMG! I love, love, love the new In Color, Groovy Guava!! I also think that I love the new stamp set, Pick a Petal! I wasnt too sure about it when I ordered it but since I love flowers I figured I had to have it, right? I also heard a little bit of chatter on SCS about how hard it is to stamp, etc. but I found it to be pretty easy to work with (granted I have only picked it up one time...)!

On this card I used All In a Row to make the background since I dont have any ribbon or other accessories to match the Groovy Guava, I had to be creative;)
Here is my 1st creation with Pick a Petal:

My next subject of discussion is the new Stampin' Up catalog, which can be found here:
http://catalogs.shoplocal.com/stampinup/index.aspx?pagename=shopmain&fsid=14bdb1f4-5db1-4fd5-b0a0-d097d3e07483&storeid=1038724&circularid=10999

My first reaction is "Holy Cow, I need another full-time job to pay for all this stuff I want", after I managed to control myself, I placed my 1st little order and I am now just waiting with bated breath for it to come to mama...

Of course I'll let y'all know when it gets here...

I have the Baroque Blahs...

I just had to have Baroque Motifs, the new Stampin' Up set from the Fall Preview Brochure...so I got it in a trade on SCS along with Hugs and Wishes from the Fall Brochure also.

I have tried to stamp with it several times and I think that I just have to accept that it isnt my "style". I am not a sophisticated, swirly stamper. I go for the cute stuff, the silly, girly stuff, not this fancy-schmancy stuff, KWIM? And I guess that is ok, right??

Yesterday, while at work, I remembered that it was the monthly Inky Angels meeting. The Inky Angels are an awesone group of SU! demonstrators that are all under the same 2 uplines and we meet once a month to talk about business ideas and see any new techniques we are demoing, etc. We also get tokens for our achievments in sales, promotions, etc. and we can use them to buy supplies every month at the meeting, that is REALLY cool!! We have a new rewards program coming in July and it sounds really fun, too, can't wait!
Anywho, I forgot about the meeting and also the swap that we do at the meeting too so I had 1 hour after work to make a swap for 20 people! The theme this month was Patriotic or Masculine Birthday. I went for the masculine birthday.

Here is my very quick card for the swap using Baroque Motifs for the 1st and likely last time;):
Supplies (All Stampin' Up!):
Barogue Motifs, Hugs and Wishes
Mellow Moss, Brocade Blue cardstock and ink
Whisper White cardstock
bluebird grosgrain ribbon, silver brads

PRETTY!

Well, our darling daughter decided the other day that having a kitten would be so "cool" and that she wanted to name it "Pretty" cause that is just the "hottest" name ever for a kitten...
So, what the heck, right? If they had a female kitten at the animal shelter I told her we could get it and darned if they didnt have 1 cute little kitten that just so happened to be a female.

Here she is being really evil and clawing at the Zoofari images that my SCS friend Katherine (beadfreak22) sent me:

Here she is playing with the top to my Close to Cocoa marker...brave cat:

And here she is thinking about playing with the ribbon that I actually wanted her to play with:

Have a great day and if you have room in your home, stop by your local animal shelter and get a kitten or a puppy or better yet get an adult cat or dog. We started to feel really bad after we got this kitten that we didnt get an adult cat but then we didnt want to bring her back since she is family now and all but the adult animals have a much harder time being adopted and I feel a little guilty for getting a kitten but it's done now so there is no need worrying about something I can't change, right??

Father's Day Cards From the Dog and Daughter and My Personal Father's Day Observation.

Father's Day was yesterday. I hope that everyone had a great day and made their dad's feel like Kings!

Anyway, here is a funny Father's Day observation that I had...

I went to the grocery store Sunday morning after tanning just like I do every Sunday morning after tanning, and I noticed that there sure were a lot of dad's with kids at the grocery store. I noticed because this was unusual for my Sunday morning grocery shopping. Normally it's just me and some other heathens in there on Sunday morning not dads and kids!

Anyway, I mentioned this to my husband later that day when he got home from golfing and he said that he knew exactly why there were so many dads at the store with their kids.

He said that on Father's Day some women think that since it is Father's Day the fathers should have to be with their kids on that day! He said that all his friends have to take thier kids with them wherever they go!

Am I the only one that thinks that is a little crazy? I know that on Mother's Day I don't want to be with kids, mine or anyone elses.

So, what's say next year, if you are one of those women that makes your husband schlep the kids around all day as their reward for being a dad, don't. Let them go golfing and drink beer with their buddies or all alone if they want to. Let them sit on the couch in their boxers and watch ESPN all day long. It's their day, afterall.

Now on to some card making.

My daughter made her dad this card for Father's Day. I think its pretty fabulous since she has only made 3 or 4 cards ever. She did however write the word "Daddy" before she saw that I have Snap Stamps that she could have used but that's ok, it's more personal that way, right??

And this card is from the dog, isnt she sweet??:

Supplies:

1st Card: SU! Wild About You, Flannel Plaid stamp sets; Not Quite Navy, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie and Summer Sun Cardstock; Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie and Ruby Red Classic Ink; Silver brads, Hodgepodge Hardware

2nd Card: My Favorite Things Cat n' Dog stamp set; Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock; SU! White craft ink, Palette Noir hybrid Ink, Basic Black Marker

My Favorite Things and Paris Hilton talk

My new MFT stamps came in the mail on Saturday! Talk about fast service. I just ordered them on Monday, wow!

There was a little peek of them on my messy stamping table but I just knew y'all wanted to see them up-close and personal and I'm just nice like that ;)

Aren't they pretty???

I also got my Papertrey Ink set on Monday but I was so anxious to use it that I forgot to take a picture, sorry.

Let's talk about Paris Hilton. I probably have the most controversial opinion of this whole situation and strangely enough my husband has the same opinion so we can talk about it together over dinner and such :)

I just don't see what the big deal is. I know of people that have had 3 DUI's convictions and they aren't in jail. Is it "right"? No! Is it my problem? No!

I mean how bad is this judge's "small man's syndrome" that he had to prove a point by sending someone famous to jail just to look like a big man? What a joke. Then let her out and then give her more time in jail because some dumb a** sheriff let her out so punish her??? What???

And why does everyone in the world think it is fun to talk badly about someone that none of us has ever even met before?

I know one thing, it doesnt make me feel good to put someone down or wish badly on them whether they have broken the law or not, it's just wrong and ugly and I don't get the whole lynch mob mentality. It can only be explained by one word "jealousy".

There are much bigger things to worry about in this world.

And if you are going to say "young people look up to her and she is a bad example" then you need to start teaching your "young people" better than that because when I ask my daughter what she wants to be when she grows up she certainly doesnt say "Paris Hilton" or "Lindsey Lohan", she says a lawyer and that she wants to be herself just older, DUH!!!

And I am 33 years old and if someone said I had to go to jail, I'd cry for my mommy, too!!

Check this out and forget about Paris Hilton:

My Stamping Confession, What's Yours??

Here is my confession:

I am a MESSY stamper! I mean I can make this huge mess while making just 1 or 2 cards. I don't know why but I always feel like I have to pull everything out and leave it out. That's the real problem. I probably didn't clean up from the stamping I did before this on Saturday...

So, what's your stamping confession??? I wanna know, mostly to take away some of the guilt, KWIM??

Here's the evidence:

And some stamping, too.
Here are the Father's Day cards for my dad and my father-in-law. The origami shirt was an SCS challenge last week (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254439) and I finally got to try it out on Saturday.

The 2nd shirt is a full-size card and I noticed that idea on one of my favorite blogs Stampowl's Studio (http://stampowl.blogspot.com/). Frances was one of the hostesses during SCS's Virtual Stamping Weekend last month and so was I, so we have gotten to know each other through that and through some chatting we've been doing on SCS (can you tell I love SCS?).

Anywho, here they are and I hope you like them!

Supplies Used:

SU! Designer Paper, Spring Showers, So Saffron cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, buttons, SU! stamp set Everyday Flexible Phrases and All Year Cheer.

Cracked Glass

First things first.
I have a serious ice cream addiction going on. Not with just any old ice cream, it has to be Breyers Bubble Yum ice cream (http://www.breyers.com/products/product.cfm?u=77567-26401&b=1)! I love it so much, you HAVE to try it, you will not be sorry. We bought it for our 3 year old neice to try and she didnt want any so my daughter and I tried it and are we ever glad we did:) You just have to try it. Oh and did I mention it is "light" ice cream??? It even gets better, huh??
Now onto some stampin' stuff now that the shoppin' is out of the way;)

I got home last night and my husband reminded me that it was his sister's birthday, oops! I mean, I love making cards for people for their birthday and I forgot all about her birthday??

Anywho...

My sister-in-law loves the beach and palm trees so Balmy Breezes was the best choice for her card. I also really wanted to try the Cracked Glass technique and since I just got some Glazzy Glaze embossign powder I was all set to go!

I put 3 layers of the Glassy Glaze on my card and I think that was the perfect amount:)

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Balmy Breezes (SU!)

Cardstock (SU!): Old Olive, Cool Caribbean, Whisper White.

Ink: Versamark, Burnt Umber (Palette), Creamy Caramel (SU!)

Other: SU! Pastels, Glassy Glaze Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Twill Tape, Circle Punch, Silver Eyelet, Linen Thread, Mini Glue Dots, Tombow Mono Multi

Thanks for lookin' and have a great day!!

No cards but some shoppin'!!!

I haven't gotten to stamp this week yet with all the studying for exams with my daughter and today being the last day of school and all the busyness that goes with the start of summer but...I did make 2 purchases this morning (shhhh).

The first purchase I made was from http://www.mftstamps.com/. I got 3 sets; Hot Stuff, Let's Go For A Walk and Cat 'n Dog. I cannot wait to get them and show them off:)

My second purchase was from http://www.papertreyink.com/. I got the Green Thumb set (http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_greenthumb.html) and even though they offer free shipping on orders over $40.00, I stuck to my 'budget" and only got 1 set! Aren't you proud of me???

And some more fun news. I am going to a fun Stamp Camp on Saturday as a "customer". It is being put on by my up, up, upline and after all the real customers signed up she opened it to other demonstrators! We will be making 6 projects and also be able to buy some of her retired sets...oh carp, more shoppin'...what's a girl to do??????

And our lovely daughter is going to Nags Head for the weekend, leaving tonight so hubby and I will be wild and free like newlyweds all weekend long!

I am going to try to stamp something tonight and figure out how to upload it to this blog of mine and show y'all!

TTYL!

still thinking...

Ok, I am still thinking about this blogging thing. What will I say or show y'all that hasn't been said or shown before?

One thing I want to do is show you all the new stamping and paper crafting supplies that I buy. I am a coupon crazy shopper so when I find a coupon code, I'll share it with y'all, how's that??

I think that tomorrow I will be placing a little SU! order for some of the new Fall Winter Preview items that I just have to have. Problem is that I am on a "budget". Anyone familiar with budgets? Apparently you can't spend money or something like that! I am supposed to go all June without buying any new stampin' stuff but here's the thing...I got some "extra" money because of an accident I was in. It isn't much but I can definitely eke out a little bit of it to get my hands on some new stampin' stuff...right????
